Bleeding Hearts

Bleeding heart

Or Dicentra from my garden. This is one of my all time favorites. However, they are only in bloom in Spring and then it dies by summer. It is one of the longer blooming perennials as others lasts only for a couple of weeks.

My apologies for being late in submitting my assignment.

oh! I like this! Tita, is it because of the weather? Does that mean then (sorry for the ignorance, but I don't know much about this plant), that it will bloom longer in tropical weather?

I haven't seen them in the Phils. Although I've seen them in Baguio. They like colder and wet weather. They can't survive the heat so the foliage turns brown by summer. It is an ideal plant because it does not resead (it has no seeds) and it does not multiply and get weedy. It covers a lot of space too but you need something to cover the space during the summer so I have hostas by it as you can see.
